I’d be surprised if it hasn’t already happened. Just like with the SRT-4, it’s like the car is just a canvas for mods. When I sold my SRT-4, even with 170,000 miles I only had it listed for a few hours before the eventual buyer contacted me, and that was because I hadn’t modded it.

There are no stock BRZs. They aren’t
all
riced to shit, but they all have at least some mods. It didn’t even come with a cover for the center console from the factory. Kind of surprised I didn’t see more people importing the armrest from Europe.

S13's came out in 1989 and the GT86 platform came out in 2012.
Now I’m not good at math, but I think that means you need to wait about 13 years until your time-capsul GT86 is worth anything more than KBB value.

They’re still very easy to find stock. In fact, the vast majority of the listings on AutoTrader and even Craigslist are for unmodified examples. I give it another 10 years minimum before clean ones are hard to find.

I think your chances will be good.
I don’t think modding culture is what it used to be. I think there are a lot of people who mod their cars now, especially 86s, but I feel like there were easily more people modding cars back in the early-mid 90s.
Also -and maybe it’s a root cause for the above case- current cars are more difficult/expensive to modify due to in-car computer networks and stricter emissions regulations.

Well S13's are currently 22-27 years old and clean ones have been rare for what, 5-10 years?
The Toyobarus are only three years old now and modified examples are actually in the minority on AutoTrader and Craigslist. So if we can expect the same timeline as S13's, I’d say probably we probably have at least 10-15 years before.
That said, I do think we’ll reach that point with the FR-S/86 before the BRZ. In my own research, there’s already a higher ratio of modified FR-S’s for sale than BRZ’s.

Define stock. While most may not be sporting cheap mismatched primer bodykits yet, I bet most have at least had a tune or exhaust.

As in no modifications whatsoever.
I’ve seen less than half a dozen examples with body kits for sale (most were FR-S’s). Those with exhaust and tune aren’t much more common.

I see an awful lot of stock ones around here. I agree with what nth256 said, modding isn’t what it used to be.

We should still be pretty far out. It isn’t until the 3rd owner and on when cars vaporize into modsters and beaters. Since they are hitting $17k now I’d give it another 10 years, when a majority are no longer one or two owner vehicles.

The Toyobaru has a couple of advantages over the S13 that might make it easier to find stock ones down the road.
1. Same engine across all markets and trims.
2. No stock turbochargers.
3. The platform mates are virtually identical other than some interior bits, spring rates, and the front fascia.
I think you will see a majority 10 years from now with only easily reversible mods like a filter/CAI, lowering springs, and new wheels rather than engine swaps, junkyard turbos, and JDM imports/conversions.
